ND Wheels Tpms Tire SizingFree

MrMiata house reference

First, the fact that trips people up: the ND is 4x100 bolt pattern, the same as the NA and NB. Only the NC ever broke the pattern, with 5x114.3, so never fit NC wheels to an ND. Don't buy wheels for the wrong generation.

Key wheel and tire facts for the ND:

On tire sizing, the ND runs a modest, narrow tire by design. Common stock sizes are in the 195/50R16 and 205/45R17 range depending on wheel. Resist the urge to go dramatically wider; the ND's charm is a light car on a sensible tire that lets the chassis move and communicate. A huge sticky tire adds grip but mutes the very feel you bought the car for, and it strains a modestly powered engine.

TPMS: the ND has direct TPMS with sensors in each wheel. If you buy a second set of wheels for track or winter tires, you'll need sensors installed and registered, or the warning light stays on. Budget for that when planning a two-wheel-set life.

Guidance: for most owners a good 200-treadwear tire in the stock size, on a light 17-inch wheel, is the ideal upgrade. Keep it narrow, keep it light, and keep TPMS sensors in every set of wheels you run.
