Both NC gearboxes are strong and pleasant. The 6-speed is the enthusiast pick: closer ratios, a slightly stronger engine tune behind it, and often the oil cooler and limited-slip. The 5-speed is lighter, simpler and perfectly good for a relaxed road car.
Most buyers chasing back-road or track fun want the 6-speed. But do not dismiss a clean 5-speed base car
