A Miata oil and filter change takes about 20 minutes and roughly 3.5 to 4 quarts. Warm the engine, drain, swap the filter, refill, and verify level and no leaks.
Warm it first. Run the engine two or three minutes so the oil flows out fast and carries more debris. Then shut it off and let it sit five minutes so you are not draining scalding oil onto your hand.
