Change the timing belt on a 1.6 or 1.8 every 60,000 miles, and do the water pump, tensioner, and front seals at the same time. These engines are non-interference, so a snapped belt strands you but does not destroy the engine - still, do not gamble on an unknown belt.

The 1.6 (B6) and 1.8 (BP) are belt-driven. The NC (LF) and ND (Skyactiv) use a timing chain and have no belt interval
