The Fiat 124 Spider is the Miata's fraternal twin: same bones, different soul. Built on the ND platform and assembled alongside the MX-5 at Mazda's Hiroshima plant, it shares the roadster's structure but sets out to feel like a different car.
This was a formal collaboration - Fiat wanted a modern roadster, and the Miata was the obvious foundation.
